The Palace announced a suspension of work in all government agencies inside the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) at Pasay City from November 8 until 15 where the country is the host for the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit. More than 20 leaders such as US President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudaeu are going to the international event.

With the authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the Memorandum Circular no. 32 yesterday to temporarily prevent any transactions at local commission. However, the offices under management of different ASEAN meetings and related activities, health and emergency preparedness, and security and safety will continue their respective operations.

The order reads to guarantee the public service of headquarters that are inside the PICC Complex. The president also signed the Proclamation 332 that will declare November 13 to 15 as non-working holidays at Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Bulacan.

The Metro Manila Council consists of all Mayors in the Metro also proclaimed of suspending classes within the dates of November 16 and 17 for private and public schools in all levels. The Department of Labor and Employment also reminded their employees monitor their holiday pay rules.

Acting Government Secretary Catalino Cuy lead the send-off for the government troops that took place last November 5 at Quirino Grandstand. He reiterated that they are ready for physical and many other threats. He also assured that isolation is implemented at summit venues and hotels.

Aside from deployment of forces, a large sum of money will also be ready to detect, and provide assistance during the event. Other guests during the ceremony were PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa, Police Director Napoleon Taas, Ambassador Marciano Paynor Jr. and AFP Chief of Staff Rey Leonardo Guerrero.
