25-year old singer and actress Selena Gomez revealed on her instagram account that she undertake a kidney transplant from her friend Francia Raisa who is known for her role in ABC family series, The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

In the pictures, both Selena and Francia were seen holding hands across their hospital beds while the other one is Selena’s scar after the operation. Gomez wrote on her caption that the transplant is what she needed for her overall health. As of this typing, it now reached more than 7.3 million likes and 160 thousand comments from her friends and fans.

Selena Gomez Undergo Kidney Transplant
The procedure happened earlier this summer and that is why Selena took a break last year. The former Disney star first revealed in 2015 that she has a diagnosis with Lupus, an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks normal tissues in many parts of the body. According to Dr. David Klassen, 1 healthy kidney is what the body needs and it may resolve the problem. Lupus is often a disease for younger women but having this operation, Gomez will surely do quite well as the disease tends not to comeback.

Francia Statement on Giving her Kidney 

Following the news that she gave her kidney to Selena, Francia also shared on her instagram account that she is beyond grateful to God and the procedure made their friendship stronger and deeper. They met a decade ago when their respective shows visited a children’s hospital in Los Angeles.

They have been friends ever since and are very supportive with each other’s careers. A source close to her also revealed that Selena did not ask Francia to be her donor but the latter is a kind of person who will do anything for her friends. For her recovery, the French actress is now fine and back to her normal lifestyle.
