ABS-CBN Corporation has filed a lawsuit against American website for illegally streaming its TV shows and movies. Reports say that the website showed 27 copyrighted television shows and movies. allegedly uploaded the complete episodes of TV dramas ‘Be My Lady’, ‘Dolce Amore’, and ‘Born For You’ for internet users to stream. Their video library also included the movies ‘You’re Still the One,’ ‘Etiquette for Mistresses,’ and ‘Ex With Benefits.’

ABS-CBN Sues American Video Streaming Website for Piracy
According to ABS-CBN assistant vice president of Global Anti-piracy Elisha Lawrence, the move was a continuation of their efforts against online piracy.

“We are going after every pirate wherever they live and operate," she said.
The media company sought eight million dollars in damages against the website for illegally showing its content.

Just this week, ABS-CBN was successful in their lawsuit against 11 other streaming websites including,,, and US District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas awarded the plaintiff $11 million in damages and ordered the defendants to stop advertising, promoting, performing, copying, broadcasting, or distributing ABS-CBN’s copyrighted materials.

Aside from at least $2 million in statutory damages per use of trademark, ABS-CBN also demands triple the defendants’ profits from the alleged infringement. is an online platform for free content from Asian countries like China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korean and even North Korea. As of this writing, all content from the Philippines has been taken down by the website.

Meanwhile, netizens expressed their disappointment over the said news, especially fans of Korean dramas that the website stream for free.
