After topping the 2015 Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination (MELE), Micah Baculot Arceno was hoping that his ladylove will also top the next board exams and his prayers were answered because his girlfriend, Marina Melendres Luchavez recently topped the 2016 MELE. The 22 -year old graduate from University of Cebu ranked first out of 1,645 examinees were only 910 passed the board exam. She also achieve an impressive rating of 91.6 %.

The result was released by the Professional Regulation Commission last April 4. Other than Marina, there were also two graduates from University of Cebu that was included at the top. They were Neil Ivan Jon Buquing Domingo who ranked 2nd place and Jay Rald Lawas Quiachon who came on 4th place.

Meanwhile, University of Cebu gave Marina and other top placers  brand new cars and Php100,000 each. The university was known for giving cars to their graduates who tops the board exams and they revealed that it became a habit and giving car as a reward is suitable for students who work hard to top any exams. Aside from the topnotchers, the university also decided to give cars to one of the professors but the College of Engineering chose two. They were Engr. Ronnie Alcorcon and Engr. Rodel Naval  but instead of a car, they opted to just get value of the car in cash with an amount of Php500,000.

Marina got a white Toyota Wigo while her boyfriend got a red one from last year. There are jokes from their friends on whose car will they use when they go on dates and Marina jokingly answered that they will use a toss coin. When Arceno received his car last 2015, Luchavez was busy reviewing for MELE. Marina revealed that she was inspired by her boyfriend’s feat so she work harder. She is the sixth of seven children who are a family of engineers. She is now the 3rd Mechanical Engineer on their family. Her older brother, Calixto Luchavez Jr. was also a graduate from UC and ranked 6th on 2006 MELE while their youngest is still studying also taking up the same degree.
