Filipina-German Maureen Wroblewitz won Asia’s Top Model 5 on Wednesday, June 28. She bagged the title against Vietnamese contender Minh Tu Nguyen and Malaysian Shikin Gomez. In the Final Challenge, the three models had to walk at a fashion show in Singapore wearing the creations of X.Q.Zhang.
Wroblewitz is the shortest and the youngest among the contestants, yet had proven that she has what it takes to win Asia’s Top Model 5. Among all the odds of the competition, Wroblewitz stood tall and had showed that she is not just a pretty face, said Cindy Bishop. The AsNTM5’s host also acknowledged Maureen's hard work and even said that she silenced those who have ever doubted her with her confidence.
Maureen Wroblewitz was happy for having Pia Wurtzbach as the judge.
Both ladies are half-Filipina, half-German who have recently won international titles. According to her interview with PhilStar.com, Maureen is really looking up to the former Miss Universe. When the Asia’s Next Top Model 5 winner had been asked if she felt having the upperhand because a fellow Filipina was there as a judge, she said that Pia was never biased and completely fair throughout the competition that she never felt that she already has the chance to win just because Pia was there. But Maureen did not deny being happy that the beauty queen was in the show because she inspired her more to become the first Filipina winner of Asia’s Next Top Model.

The entire show has never been smooth sailing for Wroblewitz. She had been tagged as “just a pretty face but has no skills” by Clara Tan, one of the contenders in ASNTM5, and even experienced being dragged down by a fellow Filipina model in the competition that she almost quit. Even though, Maureen proved everyone that she deserves to be in the show and to win it.
Maureen Wroblewitz will be in Nylon Singapore and will receive a brand-new Subaru car. She will also be under Storm Model Management’s representation.
