It can be one of the strangest surgeries that the doctors in Chennai did when they successfully removed a live cockroach from a woman’s skull.
According to a report by The New Indian Express, the 42 year old woman named Selvi was admitted to the hospital when she felt a weird feeling around her eyes and nose. She then asked her son-in-law to take her on a government hospital.
Before visiting the hospital, Selvi recalled that whenever the insect move, it gives a burning sensation in her eyes. Her employer then suggested that she must go Stanley Hospital.
Luckily, the doctors were relieved that she arrived at the right time before the cockroach die inside her skull or else it can damage her brain.
Dr. M N Shankar, the head of the hospital told the media that it is the 1st time in his 3 decades of practice that he encountered this kind of case.
Nasal Endoscopy took 12 hours to remove the live cockroach on her skull. He also revealed that the cockroach is sitting between Selvi’s eyes close to her brain.
Meanwhile, Dr. S Mutuchitra said that they used a combination of suction and forceps to pull it out and it lasted for 45 minutes. He also revealed that their department usually removes chalk piece, leech, button cell and beads from nasal cavities but not a cockroach.
Netizens applauded the doctors of Stanley Hospital for their efforts. One of them is Syed Muniruddin who said that it was amazing that Shankar and his team was able to locate and remove the live cockroach.
