The long time anticipated Megafight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao is about to finally happen in about a week and tickets are still yet to be made available at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. People are getting excited and promotions are left and right, however, according to Bob Arum contract deal is still yet to be finalized.
Bob Arum, Top Rank Promotions chief, has decided that he will not affix his signature in the draft of the contract he recently received as it was not the same deal they had agreed to. He said that is was agreed that everyone are to be signatories of the final contract but what was sent to him was an agreement that excluded him. Arum had been Pacquiao’s promoter since 2005.
Since the contract with the MGM is still unsigned , the tickets are not yet released and on sale. The last time Top Rank had promoted a fight in MGM was in April 2014 when Timothy Bradley Jr was defeated by Pacquiao reclaiming WBO welterweight title via unanimous decision.
Manny Pacquiao once posted a copy of the contract on Facebook but later on took it down. The contract showned that both camps will own and promote the upcoming big event, yet Mayweather’s camp will be the sole negotiator with the MGM. On the other hand, Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather Promotions CEO, claimed that Arum is holding up the signing of the contract as he wants to create a controversy.
