Psy’s Gangnam Style broke YouTube’s views counter as it exceeded the set limit of YouTube. In their Google+ account, YouTube revealed that Gangnam Style had reached 2,147,483,647 views by December 2, 2014.

YouTube thought that their 32-bit integer for their views counter was enough but that was before Psy’s video of Gangnam Style had been uploaded to their site. YouTube then decided to upgrade their system and used a 64-bit integer with the limit of 9,223,372,036,854,775,808.

As a celebration of this record, if a mouse hovers over the views counter, a little math trick will be seen. Gangnam Style was uploaded in YouTube on July 15,2012 under the account name officialpsy. After more than two years since its success and boosting Psy popularity, the views steadily goes up. YouTube also says that they expect the views to go higher.
