Korina Sanchez had been declared by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as persona non grata in any parts of Japan as reported by SWN. It was said that the Japanese Minister was disappointed upon her words last December 3, 2014.

The said declaration was a consequence of an ill wish the ABS-CBN veteran anchor did to Japan. It is usual for the three main anchors to talk about their personal views about the news they had reported before their show TV Patrol ends, but on December 3, Wednesday, many thought that she had gone too far when she said that she hoped the Typoon Hagupit (Locally named as Typhoon Ruby) will just move to Japan.

Korina Sanchez Reported as Persona Non Grata in Japan Related to Typhoon Ruby Remarks
The conversation begun when Korina Sanchez said that people can still pray the typhoon away. As a reaction, the former Vice President and veteran anchor Noli de Castro said that maybe they can pray that the half could go to Japan. To that sentiment, Sanchez replied that Japan could have the whole typhoon as they seemed to be able to handle it more than the Philippines.

This exchange of views had greatly dismayed many viewers and posted various reactions in social media. Many expressed their disappointment especially that Japan had close ties with Philippines and it was them who was one of the first country to help those survivors of Typhoon Yolanda. Japan was also reported to have pledged help to those affected by Typhoon Ruby.

SWN (So Whats News) created a satirical news in response to the issue. They quoted Prime Minister Abe who ‘wholeheartedly’ declares Sanchez as persona non grata for the ill wishing the typhoon to wholly go to their country, while Noli de Castro was ‘half-heartedly’ declared to be persona non grata for wishing half of the storm to go to Japan.
