After succeeding in defending his WBO Welterweight belt from Chris Agieri on November 23, the People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao was asked the expected question regarding his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The question was first asked only a few moments after the referee took up his arm to announce his victory.

Manny Pacquiao used his famous line ‘He is going to fight me?!’ to answer the question. The line he used is from his commercial for Foot Locker. He then said that he is ready to fight the undefeated boxer next year.

The question was then repeated in a formal press conference after the fight. He then shared that he thinks it is time for Mayweather to say yes to one of the most awaited fight in the boxing history. Many boxing fans voiced out that if Manny Pacquiao wins over Algieri, then Mayweather might just agree for the promising bout.

Pacquiao also voiced out that he himself had been wanting the fight for a long time now. According to Bob Arum of Top Rank and the Filipino Boxing Icon’s promoter, the fight against Mayweather is now at the top of their priority.

It had been rumoured that the big fight had already been discussed by both of the camps but they had never reached an agreement due to frequent changes of Mayweather’s demands. This leads to many thinking that Mayweather could just be hand picking his opponents and won’t fight Pacquiao in fear of tarnishing his undefeated record. The inability to reach an agreement of both camps was not help by constant bantering of the two boxers against each other online.

It was a week ago after Mayweather’s network hinted that they could be open for negotiations regarding a fight against Pacquiao which gave many boxing fans a hope to see the fight before the two champions retire.
