A grand sale of a smart phone in a mall turned into a grand chaos after a ZTE Kiosk closed way before the end of the announced time of closing. The handset that was put up on sale for 1,999 Php was Grand X2 L that is supported by Android 4.2 Jellybean with a 1GB RAM and has a size of 5.5-inch HD display.
Grand X2 L originally has a retail price of 11,999 Php and the ZTE had bravely put the price way lower that any sale Filipinos had witness for the history os smartphone sales. According to the report, around 200 people gathered around the ZTE kiosk in SM North EDSA to avail of the promo only to be disappointed as the store manager announced at that they had run out of the unit.
Due to the announcement that the unit will be on sale only on at 2pm til 6pm, prospect buyers had flocked aiming to avail the unit in such a rare sale, but they were oblivious that there are only 100 available units. Police was called to control the situation but the people refused to leave. The store management tried to give out freebies to calm the mob but to no avail.
People had learned about the sale through various site with details on the very limited time offer but they all seemed to have failed to mention the number of units that will be given out.
There are seven ZTE stores which participated in the said sale, namely SM North, SM Fairview, SM Southmall, Tutuban Mall, GMall Davao, SM Sta. Mesa and Luckygold Plaza in Pasig. It had been said that each outlet was only given 100 units for the said sale. The same incident had been reported in the ZTE shop in SM Sta Mesa. Reference: abs-cbn
