Punika Kulsoontornrut will no longer hold the title of Miss Earth Water as she was dethroned for violating the contract alongside as being the titleholder as decided by the Philippines-based organizers. Carousel Productions, Inc. had informed the Thailand beauty of their decision through a formal letter.
Kulsoontornrut joined the Miss International, another international pageant, despite being informed that this would be a violation of her contract as the titled Miss Earth Water. In 2013, she was crowned as Miss Earth Water while Alyz Henrich of Valenzuela was the Miss Earth 2013, Katia Wagner of Austria was crowned Miss Air and the title Miss Fire was given to Korea's Catharina Choi.
Carousel Productions, Inc shared that the reigning winners of Miss Earth, as written in their letter to Kulsoontornrut, are not allowed to enter any international beauty pageant competitions for one year as included in their contract specifically in Section 5 of the Miss Earth Delegate Contract.
Carousel had also said that that they had informed Kulsoontornrut through her manager for international affairs, Astrid Schuck, that her joining Miss International will violate her contract and would be given consequences. In addition, they had also said that they had even given her enough time to withdraw her participation from Miss International but had eventually decided to dethrone her after she had not withdrawn in the competition as evidence by her photo being shown as one of the candidates in the Miss International official website.
As Miss Earth Water, she was held as an advocate to preservations of marine life and cultivation of water. Miss International will have their finals night in Tokyo on November 11. She will compete against other aspiring beauty queens including Philippines' Bianca Guidotti. The Miss Earth will also held their finals night on November 29, in UP Theater in Quezon City.
