Apple Inc. had finally rolled out their promised iOS 8.1 update with Apple Pay and now ready for download starting on October 22, 2014. The most talked about addition is the Apple Pay which can be enjoyed by the owners of iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPad Mini 3 and iPad Air 2 just through swiping their fingers with Touch ID.
iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 owners can also pay for their goods with the use their phones to tap card readers in the participating stores with the combination of NFC and Touch ID. Integrating the Existing Passbook feature, Apple Pay allows iPhone and iPad users to set up and store debit and credit cards. The new iOS will however have to use a memory of 69.9 MB.
Now available in more than 220,0000 stores in US, Apple expects that the service will also be available in other countries for the year 2015. The participating stores will allow contractless payments though Apple Pay for good from stores such as McDonalds, Nike, Office Depot. Uber, Airbnb, and Groupon and others are supporting Apple Pay within apps at its launch.
The iOS 8.1 also has the new Continuity features that lets the Mac work better with iPhones and iPads. The SMS from any of the devices is supported by iOS 8.1 and OS X Yosemite, allowing the mac and iPhone owners to text even without the use of their phones.
ICloud Photo Library had been updated to let the iPhone and iPad users store their devices in the cloud with just smaller versions. This is the Apple’s way of addressing concerns on storage issues.
Apple also promised that the bugs had been fixed after there had been reports of apps crashing and many had experienced disabled cell service with the previous iOS 8. Reference: theverge
