Meet the Hoverbike, the world’s first flying motorcycle in history. The Hoverbike is a combination of a helicopter and a motorbike developed by Chris Malloy’s team. Ever heard of it? We used to see flying bikes or cars only in sci-fi movies, now it could become a reality.
“Hoverbike is a revolution in aviation, designed to do what a helicopter does, but cost less and do so better,” said Malloy. Soon people would be able to afford this sleek ride. Now that they had announced their success in reaching their initial goal of funds, they would be able to start building a manned Hoverbike. They plan to make it cheaper than a helicopter, easier to use and make it a trend in aviation.
According to Malloy, they are in the final construction stages of the latest manned prototype of Hoverbike, and in a few months they will start flight testing. After the successful completion of test flights they will build a final engineering prototype for submission to aviation certification authorities.
The good news is they are actually seeling their 1/3rd scale drone. At first, they built this drone just to prove the concept of the possibility of a full-sized Hoverbike and then they realized how much it does. It could fly by itself, on a pre-determined flight path, return to home, loiter, follow and more!
As seen in their promotional video below, you can even use it for delivering, putting out fire with water without going near the flames and carry messages. You can easily fold it into a third of its size and out it in its specially made backpack. The bag has padded walls that is also great for other sport equipments. They are selling 1/3rd scale drones to gather more funds for their project.
Their vision for this flying bike was summarized when they said ,“Its low cost and practical size lends itself to search and rescue, precision farming and cattle mustering, first-responder emergency services and cargo insertion of up to 120kg (265lbs) into confined spaces. We believe it would be ideal for ski and mountain rescue, airborne logistics and time-sensitive personnel insertion/extraction during major disasters.”
If you would donate, you might have a chance to own a prototype for free. Just donate and email a reason why you would like this bike. When the reach their goal of $1,100,000 USD, they would give a prototype to the best response they would receive. Not bad right? Actually, it sounds like a great deal.
We now live at a time when technology can make dreams reality. Since the first successful plane of the Wright brothers, we have now reach this far and still moving forward for this Hoverbike as the World’s First Flying Motorcycle in History. Reference: hover-bike, YouTube
