A total amount of P5.2 million was handed to two tipsters who gave information on Delfin Lee and NPA leader Grayson Magranga Naogsan’s whereabouts that lead to their arrest. PNP Chief Director General Alan Purisima was the one who handed the money to them during simple rites in Camp Crame for cooperating with the case. The said money came from PNP Confidential Intelligence Fund which were divided into two: P2 million and P3.2 million.

Naogsan was arrested in Baguio after his alleged involvement in several issues involving the NPA in the Cordillera region. Naogsan’s involvement in different atrocities that resulted to the death of 23 soldiers who were members of CAFGU, death of a barangay officer and 30 wounded government troops with a policeman from 2003 up to 2012 gave him so many arrest warrants, in fact 10.

On the other hand, last March 6, Lee was nabbed by PNP Task Force Tugis at the lobby of Hyatt Hotel in Ermita, Manila. He was known to be one of the famous high profile fugitives “Big 5.” Other members of Big 5 are retired Army major general Jovito Palparan, former Palawan governor Mario Joel Reyes, Coron mayor Mario Reyes, and Dinagat congressman Ruben Ecleo Jr.

With the cooperation of the two tipsters, the culprits for so many cases were nabbed. The two tipsters became instant millionaires with the rewards that they received from PNP. This should serve as a motivation to those who would like to cooperate with the government in finding a suspect of a particular crime. This will help the authorities solve the cases and bring justice to the victims.

The attitude shown by the two is an act of bravery that we should emulate. The case of the two nabbed suspects on several cases continues as they are now on the custody of the authorities. Reference
