The San Mig Coffee Mixers has proven that they are the king of the ring as they defeated Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Because of the achievement of the team, it is now put beside Crispa, San Miguel Beer and Alaska as the only grand slam team in the history of PBA. Surely, their coach Tim Cone is very proud of them (players). Looking at Tim Cone’s record, he was the first coach in the history who engineered two grand slams and the previous was with the Alaska Milk in 1996.
Things have changed in the coaching staff of the teams of PBA nowadays but the brilliance of the coaches didn’t. And of this generation, the San Mig Coffee Mixers is considered as the best team and Tim Cone is the best coach. On the latter games, James Yap scored 29 points that made him get the Holcim Finals MVP award. Looking at Yap’s record, this is his second straight and fourth in his entire career. Yap is really an amazing player teamed with the best coach and belonged to the best team.
During an interview, James Yap said “sobrang blessed. But I’m not the only one who worked for this. Pinaghirapan namin ito lahat.” And this is really a blessing to him, a gift for his hard work and dedication for the team. Meanwhile, the entire team worked well on the latter games that gave them the championship.
