The kids from Philippines ranked 1st runner-up and bagged 15 medals in the reent 17th Po Leung Kuk Primary Mathematics World Contest held in Hongkong. This is another victory that gives honor to our country through the minds of these young mathematicians from different schools in the country.

John Henry Marquez (UP Integrated School), Stefan Marcus Ong and Steven Ting Reyes (St. Jude Catholic School), and William Joshua King (Bethany Christian School) from Philippine Team C ranked 1st runner-up in group contest overall. From the team, Stefan Marcus Ong, John Henry Marquez and Steven Ting Reyes were able to bag individual awards. Ong, Marquez and Reyes brought home three gold medals while William Joshua King won the silver medal.

Another team is the Philippine Team A which is composed of Genrish Wendell Ng (St. Jude Catholic School), Bert Joseph Tropicales (Southernside Montessori School), Karl Raymond Roque (Notre Dame of Greater Manila), and Mickel Lyle Angelo Pe (Antique SPED Center). They received a merit and Roque won the silver medal and Tropicales was able to bring home the bronze. This happened during individual contests in the said competition.

Aside from the above mentioned awards, there are also other won by brilliant Filipino kids like Immanuel Josiah Balete (St. Stephen's High School) and Andrhea San Gabriel (Small World Christian School Foundation) who were silver medalists. Patrick Nino Policarpio (Greenpark Montessori Learning Center), Bryce Ainsley Sanchez (Grace Christian College), Maxinne Louise Dominique Co (Ateneo De Iloilo-SMCS), and Ryan Jericho Sy (Chiang Kai Shek College) won bronze medals.
