An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 hit Batangas and other areas of Metro Manila on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at around 7:52 PM according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). Another record was done by the U.S. Geological Survey with 5.6 magnitude. The said earthquake according to Phivolcs was centered 22 kilometers southwest of Calatagan, Batangas and was felt in several areas in Luzon, especially in Metro Manila.
Intensity 5 was recorded in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro and Batangas City.
Intensity 4 was recorded in Malolos, Tagaytay City, Mabini, Batangas; Indang, Rosario, and several towns of Oriental Mindoro.
Intensity 3 was recorded in Quezon City, Pasig City, Taguig City; Manila City; Paranaque City; Bacoor, Cavite; Baco, Or. Mindoro; San Jose, Occ. Mindoro and Talisay, Batangas.
Intensity 2 was recorded in Binangonan, Rizal; Lucban, Quezon; Makati City; San Pedro, Laguna.
And lastly, intensity 1 was recorded in Caloocan City.
The news about the earthquake instantly spread and shared online. There are aftershocks to be expected and there are no reports of serious damages by the said earthquake.
