Manila, Philippines; The co-accused in mauling Vhong Navarro named John Paul Calma or "JP Calma" which later confirmed with real name on his passport as "Jose Paolo Calma" left the Philippines three days (on April 10,2014) before an arrest warrant for serious illegal detention and grave coercion was released as confirmed by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.
The authorizes are finding out the cause of slipping out of the country of JP and according to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, the reason for this is the confusion over the “JP” in his name that allowed him to leave the country while having an arrest warrant.
The Bureau of Immigration officials told de Lima that the name “John Paul Calma” not “Jose Paolo Calma” was the one that was appearing and indicated in their database of people on the LBO or Lookout Bulletin Order.
Calma’s location is still unknown but there were reports received by de Lima that he is in Singapore. When they looked at the issue regarding Calma’s exit of the country, they found out that there was confusion in the use of his name in the passport, ID and other documents. De Lima is set to talk to the BI Commissioner with this matter so that they will know the nature of this co-accused trip before making any decisions on what to do next.
On April 14, the arrest warrants were issued against Lee, Calma, Cornejo, Bernice Lee, Fernandez, Raz Jr. and Guerrero for the crime grave coercion with a bail of P12,000 each.
It was in April 21 that Judge Paz Esperanza Cortes of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch issued warrants against Lee, Cornejo, Fernandez, Guerrero and Raz with serious illegal detention case which is non-bailable.
Guerrero’s trip to Hongkong was stopped by the BI and Lee’s flight to Dubai which was supposedly on April 12 leaked and that caused it to be cancelled. Be updated on this case in our future post here.
