Manila, Philippines - Cedric Lee and Simeon “Zimmer” Raz, two of the accused in Vhong Navarro’s mauling were arrested in Oras, Eastern Samar and brought to Manila handcuffed during the flight. They arrived in Manila at 7:43 a.m. via Philippine Airlines Flight PR 2982 with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The two and others were charged of grave coercion and serious illegal detention for what happened last January 22 at Forbeswood condominium in Taguig. Serious illegal detention is a non-bailable offense. They are now on their way to the NBI headquarters in Manila. The proceedings will push thru there. The decision for the place where they will be detained lies in the hands of Taguig Regional Trial Court and they will temporarily be staying at the NBI Detention Facilility.
The arrest took place in a beach resort in Barangay 13, Dolores, Eastern Samar on Friday, April 25. They were cornered by the authorities but tried to escape by jumping off a wall and in a coconut plantation they hid overnight. Lee’s wallet and cellphone were held by the NBI and Raz brought his cellphone calling that caretaker to hand the P170,000 for safekeeping purposes. The caretaker said that the money is missing.
It was in a remote town in Oras, Eastern Samar that the two were caught at around 11:15 a.m. of Saturday. The news spread quickly. Meanwhile, Cornejo, Fernandez and Guerrero who are also accused of the said charges are not yet arrested. Lee said that they voluntarily surrendered in an interview.
The authorities are still looking forward to finding the location of one of the accused who went out of the country named JP Calma. This issue is trending nowadays both in the news and social media.
